GENE NEWBOLD is a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, performing locally, and contributing to the music and theater scene in Eugene since the mid-1980s. Gene cut his teeth performing throughout his youth in musical theater, starring in Into the Woods, Cinderella, and Oliver!, with supporting roles in a dozen other plays.
Writing songs and leading bands for 30 years, Gene has traversed alternative, jazz, rock, southern rock, Britpop, indie, folk, alt-country, and singer/songwriter genres. His most recent solo record, Before The Night Is Up (Bless Yr Heart/Stray Pony Records) was released on major streaming platforms in 2023, and was recorded in Muscle Shoals with legendary Swamper bassist, David Hood.
Holding a degree in Psychology, and a Master’s in Teaching, Gene is also a middle school Arts educator, and Theater Director, as well as Music Director at Faith Center.
