The Shedd Institute’s Musical Theatre Training Academy presents its 6th semi-annual revue, "Get Happy!". This edition is dedicated to the extraordinary Songbook composer Harold Arlen whose long and illustrious career began at the New York's legendary Cotton Club in the late 1920s where he composed such classics as "Stormy Weather" and "I’ve Got the World on a String" before moving to Hollywood where for 3 decades he wrote the music for such classic films as The Wizard of Oz, Cabin In The Sky, Star Spangled Rhythm, Here Come The Waves, and A Star Is Born among many others with great lyricists like Yip Harburg, Ira Gershwin, and Johnny Mercer. No one composed more classics than Arlen, among which can be found "It's Only A Paper Moon", "Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate The Positive", "Lydia The Tattooed Lady", "My Shining Hour", "Get Happy", "That Old Black Magic", "Between the Devil & The Deep Blue Sea", "I've Gotta Right To Sing The Blues", "The Man That Got Away", "Blues In The Night", and, of course, "Over The Rainbow".
Two shows (at 4:30 and 8:30 pm), cabaret seating, bar open throughout each performance in the Tykeson Lobby.
