Background, professional training and performance history
Joshua Sheetz is a Eugene/Springfield drumming local. He began drumming at an early age and has performed many different styles including: Broadway Musical Theater, Jazz, R&B, Funk, Rock, Metal, Symphonic, and Choral accompaniment. He currently plays for the UO Green Garter Band, Oregon Marching Band, and Oregon Basketball Band, as well as several local rock bands and a funk trio.
Joshua plays a variety of instruments including: Drums, piano, guitar, bass, and trombone.
Self-taught at a young age, Joshua now studies under such drumming legends as Gary Hobbs, Ken Mastrogiovanni, and Don Elkington.
Artist statement and teaching philosophy
“Music is a fun and creative expression of the soul that I believe everyone deserves to share. Lessons are tailored to the individual’s experience, as well as the student’s future goals as a musician. Fundamentals, practice skills, and real world application are just a few staples of these lessons.”
Subjects taught
Joshua primarily teaches drumset and percussion, but also teaches bass, guitar, and piano at varying levels. He teaches a variety of genres including: Big Band, standard forms of Jazz, R&B, Funk, Rock, Metal, Country, Broadway, and other drum, percussion, bass, and guitar styles.
