No study of musical theatre would be complete without contemporary favorites such as
Oliver!, 42nd Street, Ragtime, Godspell, and
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Songs include favorites such as; “I Don’t Know How To Love Him”, “Consider Yourself”, “Send In the Clowns”, “Castle On a Cloud”, and “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile”.
The Modern Musical is the 3rd of 3 summer camps offered by The Shedd Institute as a part of its 2018
Musical Theatre Sampler program for youth 5th-8th grade.

At the Musical Theatre Sampler Camp, each student receives a “tool kit” of songs and monologues from which to draw for auditions and performances. Each day begins with a physical and vocal warm up, followed by learning songs and monologues according to the week’s theme. Each student will learn and perform one group song, one gender-appropriate group song, one solo song and two monologues. Students will also learn from “master performers” in listening and viewing sessions. Each camp culminates in a dress rehearsal and final performance of all music and acting studied during the week.
