Shelley James and Cal Coleman are a multi-cultural married music couple with a mission to bridge the gap between people of different backgrounds, cultures and genres through both their personal lives as well as their live shows. They are well loved in both the gospel and mainstream music communities and are often referred to as agents of unity by those who have experienced their music, live or recorded. Shelley and Cal are known for getting their crowds involved in the
music, often leading the people in sing-a-longs. Their intent is to leave their audiences feeling uplifted as well as having a sense of hope that love truly is the most powerful agent for change in this world.
Shelley and Cal's live shows not only focus on their popular multi- genre originals from their various albums--including previews from Shelley's soon to be released new CD--but they love to feature their favorite songwriters from around the world and to top it off, they punctuate their shows with unique a capella arrangements showcasing Cals' trademark Voice-Bass-Beat-Box ("VB3") driving underneath Shelley's velvet voice of healing.
Shelley and Cal are independent artists that have a loyal Northwest fan base that crosses genre boundaries since Shelley formed her first 'jazzerock' trio ensemble in the early nineties, called Pyramid Breakfast. This is the band where Shelley first met Cal, who was auditioning to play bass in the band. It was love at first gig. They were married just short of two years later and have never looked back. They are the founders of Shelley James m u s i c b o x and in addition to their own band, they are original members of the disco band Satin Love Orchestra and were also a part of the Floydian Slips 'Pink Floyd Tribute' band for 8 years.
They are home-based out of their beautiful Eugene Oregon, and have been playing around western Canada, Shelley's birthplace, and the west coast at large from Vancouver to Los Angeles since 1993 off and on. For 15 years they are proud to represent Eugene wherever their travels may take them, and they truly love to play for their hometown fans
whenever the opportunities arise. The Shedd has been on their wish list of venues to play for quite some time.
