Pianist and keyboardist Dario LaPoma has performed throughout Latin America and the U.S., working with artists such as Bobby McFerrin, Christian McBride, Conrad Herwig and Terell Stafford. A graduate of Lawrence Conservatory of Music, Dario draws from his diverse performance experiences ranging from solo appearances with symphony orchestras, performances with salsa ensembles, funk/rock bands and progressive jazz quartets. He has performed live on Wisconsin Public Radio and KLCC in Eugene and is the winner of the Neale-Silva Young Artists Competition, two Downbeat Magazine Awards and the Lawrence University Concerto Competition. Venues of note include Chicago’s Double Door and Elbo Room, Juan N. Corpas University (Bogota), and Eugene’s Hult Center’s Silva Hall and Jaqua Concert Hall.
An active pedagogue, composer and English-Spanish translator, Dario Dario resides in Eugene and performs regularly. He began working with The Shedd Institute in 2011 with both the Emerald City Jazz Kings and Siri Vik’s Where Or When: The Life & Lyrics of Lorenz Hart.
